Biker killed in road crash named

Police have named motorcyclist who died after a road crash in Carmarthenshire on Sunday.

Richard Pitman, a 22-year-old from Ammanford, died following the incident at 1026 GMT.

The crash happened near Derwydd on the A483 Llandybie to Llandeilo road.

Dyfed-Powys Police are continuing their inquiries and are appealing for witnesses.


Four injured in M4 minibus crash

Four adults have been taken to hospital after a crash between a minibus and a van on the M4 near Bridgend.

Another nine people were described as "walking wounded" after the incident at 18.44 GMT on Saturday on the westbound carriageway at junction 37.

Two people trapped in the minibus were freed by fire crews using hydraulic equipment.

Three crews, from Bridgend, Pontypridd and Kenfig Hill, attended the collision.


Tractor driver taken to hospital

A tractor driver has been taken to hospital after a collision between his vehicle and a lorry on the A55 near Abergele.

The accident happened just before 1030 GMT on Friday and blocked the road until it was reopened shortly before 1300 GMT.

The driver of the tractor was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan with minor injuries.

North Wales Police are investigating the incident.


City set to host Urdd Eisteddfod

Swansea is set to host the Urdd Eisteddfod in 2011 - the fourth time it will have been held in the city.

It will see up to 15,000 seven to 24-year-olds from across Wales take part in a week of cultural performances and competitions.

A public meeting is taking place at the George Hall on Wednesday to discuss the formal invitation.

Urdd chief executive Efa Gruffudd Jones said she was sure it would be "a fantastic event enjoyed by all."


Police appeal over bollard thefts

Police in Newtown are appealing for information after the disappearance of several fixed traffic bollards.

Eight of the "keep left" bollards were stolen from the A489 and also from neighbouring Park Street between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The bollards have had to be replaced as an emergency measure by Powys County Council at a cost of £1,500.

Newtown police condemned the theft as "mindless" and said they were concerned about the traffic hazard it caused.
